Mural: Amalfi coast, Italy with Trompe l’Oeil element.

I made that composition not from a real place photo – but from my client’s ideas of what they want to see in the dining room. I added a fruit bowl to add Trompe l’Oeil effect. That photo was in my studio. Later on mural was installed with paste onto the wall by professional wall paper installers. Mural for a wall for the client’s dining room: Amalfi coast, Italy.

Salon 2021 exhibition. Part 1

I am so glad that despite the current situation in the world and still coronavirus scare the host of Salon 2021 Margaret Von Kaenel managed to organize Salon in St.Louise. Only American members of Salon could come and work but many Salon artists from Europe, also from Japan and Azerbaijan mailed their paintings to be displayed.

During 4 days of Salon visitors could see exhibition paintings, take master classes which were zoomed all over the world; watch every participant painting live their demonstrations; and also watch groups of Salon participants paint 2 large murals which were donated after the last day to charities.

This video is the first part of Salon 2021 exhibition. I will post more later. Enjoy. https://www.facebook.com/1135992794/videos/pcb.10217730681515549/10217730679675503

Master class in April.

Such an honor. I was asked to teach a master class at International Salon 2021 this April in St.Louise USA. The theme of that class is “Allegories in mural paintings. Demonstration of detail from “Allegory Painting” using a limited color palette for flesh tones. Methods how to adapt family portraits to be featured as Allegories in murals based on paintings by Boucher and Fragonard. I will also talk about steps of my method how I would adapt a client’s photo as allegory in the painting or murals. On the photo – detail of my painting with Trompe l’Oeil frame. Cherubs inspired by (not exact copy) of one of the painting by François Boucher.

There are will be more free master classes by masters from different countries. Email me if you have questions at inspire2me@gmail.com or visit Salon 2021 website for more information –>

Whimsical mural at Sarasota restaurant. Square 1.

I painted that mural in whimsical style as the owner of the restaurant loved whimsical and fun style of painting. That restaurant Square 1 was located in Sarasota Florida and it’s specialty were high quality burgers. That gave me me an idea for that painting – a fun lunch of two girlfriend with the view to Sarasota bridge. Commission – from a few years ago.

Lake Como and Trompe l’Oeil vase – Mural commission for dining room.

A few years ago – in my studio. That was commission for the dining room niche in a private residence. I painted that mural on canvas in my studio. My composition for that painting was inspired by several photos from Lake Como and my imagination . I painted fruit bowl to add Trompe l’Oeil illusion “looking out of the window” when that canvas is installed. For commissions or questions please email to inspire2me@gmail.com

Art for sale * Portraits/Commissions * Trompe l’Oeil *About *

In this painting I wanted to reflect the magic of ballerina pose and her hands. And also I tried a different color pallet and style for me – less realistic. I left some parts of the painting not finished – to add a feeling of “magic” of painting when layers of brush strokes create illusion of volume and light. “Hands of Ballerina” . Portrait of 2 dogs – first commission in 2021

Introducing portrait of Larry & Libby- my first completed in 2021 commission. After the reference photo was approved – I changes slightly dogs poses to make better composition, and I replaced a simple sofa on the photo with more elegant as my client wanted. I searched Internet for styles of sofas and was inspired. At the end I “created” my own- to be perfect in lines and colors for that portrait. I had to change dogs proportions also because on the photo they were slightly distorted probably cellphone was not hold straight when the photo was taken. Which reminds me that I should write a blog with recommendations on how to take better photos of your dogs, cats or any pets – as reference photo for the portrait painting.

New portrait commission. Dr.Scolaro

It was a tremendous honor to be commissioned by the hospital to paint that portrait of Dr.Scolaro. I never met him in real life and painted that portrait using several photos of him sent to me by the hospital.

Yesterday I met with Brenda Baker- Brandon Hospital representative at the frame store to reveal the finished portrait and select a frame. She had tears in her eyes- she knew Dr.Scolaro for 10 years and she said that she had an unreal feeling that the doctor looked back at her from the portrait. I was touched deeply by that. And of course it is the best compliment to me that in my portrait I succeeded to reflect his soul.

Dr.Scolaro was President of both Brandon Chamber of Commerce and the Missing Children’s Help Center and a founding member of Brandon Hospital. In August of 2020, he passed away due to complications from Covid-19. That portrait of him will be the first portrait in the hall of fame of that hospital.

Painting progress. Venice. Self-isolation

Self-isolation – my work. Look back on 3 stages (of many) of one of my paintings I was working during quarantine. I always start with a general idea for the painting. But then it evolves and dictates to me the changes and choices I make in colors and correction to composition. You can see it clearly even just from 3 stages on that photo.

Trompe l’Oeil painting “Great Petrus vintage”.

Trompe l’Oeil is usually translated as ‘full the eye’ . It’s one of my favorite styles of painting which creates an illusion of 3 dimensions. I am posting here one of my old paintings of a wine bottle of Petrus 1947- it was a great vintage .

Street singer with Guitar in Rome. Beginning of a new painting

I devote my new painting to all Italians who are on quarantine now and who sing and play music from their balconies. I started a new painting recently and it is based on my photos and memories of visiting Rome. One of my favorite piazzas in Rome is Piazza Fiori. It is a beautiful flowers and fruit market during the date time with cafes on perimeter of the square . But in the evening all marked stands are removed, and it is fun and charming place to come to have a simple Italian dinner with a glass of vine and watch singers and performers street show.

As always I appreciate everyone of you for your likes and who follow my news.

I miss Venice. Starting a new painting.

I am starting a new painting – and that image is of detail, few first strokes. It is loosely based on some photos of my previous visit to magical Venice.

As we all are self-isolated and keep social distances at this time of pandemic, we should stay positive. It’s good for our immune system as many doctors are saying. I miss my friends, gym and many social activities. How do I stay positive? To me – of course, is to connect with all my dear friends online or on the phone. And then painting. Painting is one of blessings in my life: it takes me to a happy place and always an adventure.

As always I appreciate everyone of you for your likes and who follow my news.

Different opinions. Sketch for portrait of 2 dogs.

This image is of my sketch for future portrait of 2 dogs commission. From many photos which I received of those dogs I could use 4 only, where the photos were taken in good light and on eye level. I had to combine faces in some photos with bodies from another 2 photos – to have best facial expressions. And I thought that my sketch highlighted the dogs beauty and added an emotional situation: it looks like two of them had “conversation” but did not really agree with each other. After submitting that sketch I learned that person who commissioned that portrait wanted the dogs to be in different poses. And that means that I will be waiting for more photos of them in that specific pose, as my client requested. And hope that photos are taken with good light, on eye level and in high definition.

Of course I can “make up” positions and shapes, etc. But then the dogs will not be your dogs! Something will be missing. I think that is important to understand.

Obviously dogs will not pose for artist to paint them. I usually ask for several photos of the dogs for me to study their character, colors, shapes etc. Then I select one or two of the photos which could be a good reference photo and paint the portrait trying to capture the personality and character in their eyes , faces and shapes. So the portrait would have emotional connection to the owner.

When I have request for portrait of 2 or more dogs – I will make sketch with composition which I think is the best. Unless I have good reference photo in exact position which my client desires.

I will post more later about recommendations for taking a good reference photo of your pet. In that commission of dogs portrait the request was to reflect their characters and their adorable faces. Hence – the good light photos on the eye level and high resolution photos are required.

There is a lesson for me here also : an important reminder to myself: to make sure to ask if a client wants a certain exact composition or I have full freedom to select the best composition how I see it.

Golden November. Street Guitar player in New Orleans

Today I finished my painting “Golden November in New Orleans”. Why that name? Simply because it was based from my memories of one of my trips to New Orleans in November. Love magic and fun of that city. And love street musicians. As always when travel I take many photos and in one of them that guitar player captures the mood of that moment in time – in November when cool sun light was highlighting his guitar. Starting a new painting. Music to my ears.

Traveling is not a good idea during this pandemic. But I do look often at my traveling photos from the past – to re-leave the moment in the past and to be inspired. One of my photos- a photo of street musician in New Orleans, inspired me. I am posting my painting in a starting stage. Starting is exciting always as painting and creating is a journey to me. Cannot wait to see what it will become. And as always I do not have the title for that painting yet. What is going to be?

As always I appreciate everyone of you for your likes and who follow my news.

Stay well and healthy. My Trompe l’Oeil on canvas.

A few words of my Trompe l’Oeil painting of Madonna. I do not know much at all about religion, but I think about myself as a spiritual person. And I do respect all religions. Whatever your believes and symbols are- may them help you in your times of challenges in life in your meditation or a prayer.

Most of us will be fine. But it’s not only about us as individuals. we should make sure not to spread the virus! We all should think about elderly and people with health preconditions who can be effected badly by coronavirus. Wash hands, avoid crowds and stay home if you are sick. Be healthy and well everyone! Sending you all my love and prayers for good health.

First of all, remember that the number one thing that will suppress your immune system and make you the MOST vulnerable for illness is Fear.
⠀
There is a lot of information everywhere-some of which is not even close to factual. I am not going to try and separate the truth from the fiction but what I WILL do is approach this like I do my patients and my own life. ⠀
⠀
We can only handle ourselves and our responses to what is going on around us!!⠀
What everyone needs right now is to be proactive and to remain calm. What can you do to be proactive?⠀
⠀
To start, make sure that you take care of yourself. ⠀
⠀
Don’t get run down, make sure you are getting 7-8 hours of good sleep, and eat clean/unprocessed food. ⠀
⠀
Stay hydrated, exercise or at least walk for 15min daily and go on you tube to try some guided meditations or continue your current meditation practice. These basic recommendations are ones you have heard before and you may stay on a routine and then get off but in these times you MUST stay on top of your game.⠀
⠀
Specific recommendations to help prevent the spread or contraction of viruses include:⠀
⠀
1. Frequent hand washing⠀
⠀
2. Limit air travel if able-if you must fly take a multitude of antiaxidants(see below) before and after as well as try not to eat much right before or on the flight (especially not the typical airport sweet snacks!)⠀
⠀
3. Stay home if you are sick⠀
⠀
4. Start a regimen of vit D3 (preferably combined with K2) 5000 with food, vitamin C 1000mg with meals, Vit A 20000 (not beta carotene sourced), can also add a high quality turmeric and glutathione product (we have all on our website)⠀
⠀
5. If you get a cold or symptoms add in monolaurin (an antiviral herb)⠀
⠀
6. Find a location near you that provides IV vitaminotherapy (we have amazing high dose vit c protocols that get people over feeling sick FAST)⠀
⠀
Remember most importantly to keep your mindset in love 🥰 and not fear 😩⠀

Beginnings stage -“Street Musician” painting.

This is a beginning stage of my paining which I called for now “Street Musician”. By the time I am finished with this painting I might change the title of it.

When is the right time for a portrait?

Yesterday I was asked when – at what age is the right time for a portrait of my grandchildren? What do you think?

I think that the answer is – now. Why? Simply because they change so quickly, not only the way they look but their personality too. How do you capture it? Of course you can have many photos but we all know that not a photo but a great painting captures personality and trigger your emotions and memory of that instant moment or feeling .

I have been fortunate  to paint many portraits of grandchildren and children. And it is simply precious and always emotional  when I would deliver and reveal a portrait of a child. I often see happy tears in eyes of parents or great-parents and excitement in their voice saying to me “This is my child!..” It’s always magic to me. I am greatful.

So why not to have that portrait of your child painted now? And may be later – another – of another great moment in your child life?

Yes, children do not pose. How can they ? They have to move every moment! So I do paint from photos. Not every photo can be an inspiration for a portrait. Please contact me about details how to order portrait and choose the right reference photo /or photos.
