Tatiana Rugers is internationally renowned artist, an professional contemporary painter, based in Florida, USA. One of the biggest impacts in her childhood was an art lesson, when her Art teacher showed the techniques of blending several colors. It felt like magic to her. She still remembers that moment – she painted autumn leaves in art class. She was 8 years old.
Originally from Russia, in 1993 Tatiana Rugers moved to the USA and became a citizen. Currently she resides in Florida where she works as a full-time professional portrait and Trompe l’Oeil artist.
Her art education started in Russia and later on continued in the USA, Italy and France under many influential instructors . As an Internationally renowned artist she exhibited in France, USA, Italy, Germany, Russia, Netherlands, and Japan at International Art Salons shows. Her paintings are presented in private collections as well in public spaces in the USA, France, Russia, Italy, Sweden, Mexico just to name a few.
“My style of painting is a combination of my ever wondering views on life, subjects and ideas with my training in classical methods of oil painting. My favorite styles are portraits and Trompe l’Oeil; Favorite technique: layering paints, including impasto marks and varnish. Sometimes I use medium and make colored glazes; sometimes just straight paints from the tubes. “
Tatiana Rugers exhibited Internationally in many countries and locally at professional art shows. Tatiana Rugers artwork is in both private and public collections around the world. Her work and interviews were shown on local TV networks and were published in newspapers and magazines.
Her art and portraits adorn businesses: Brandon’s Hospital; Epicurean Hotel; Bella’s restaurant; Alfano’s restaurant; Center of Neurosomatic studies; Chez Bryce restaurant; Square One restaurants, just to name a few. Tatiana Rugers also exhibited locally in Florida: Tampa Art Museum, Scan Design studio, Morean Arts Center, South Tampa Center for the Arts.
Tatiana gave many master classes and many demonstrations during International Salon shows and her art classes. Artist Tatiana Rugers is a member of American Impressionist Society, Portrait Society of America, The National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society, Alliance for the Arts and for many years – member and former host of International Artists Salon Association.
In her youth, even though she knew that art is her passion, she decided to get master’s degree in computer science, and worked for several years as consultant-programmer for big corporations. Job was paid well, but she always missed creativity, paints and brushes. in 2001 she decided to follow passion in art. She took additional art classes from masters in Italy and the USA and started her art business.
Her favorite media are oils, but often she would make sketches or background painting in acrylics. Favorite styles and subjects are Trompe l’Oeil and Portraits.
The main goal of Tatiana Rugers when working on portraits is not exact photographic copy but capturing the essence of the person or subject, emotions and beauty of the heart and spirit. In her view that is what separates art from a photograph. Although there are some great photographers who create incredibly talented and artistic photos.
