Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! My new little painting – “It’s Christmas time “. 6×6” Available .

As a reference for that painting I used a part of the photo which one of my friends took . So it’s not a portrait- I simplified and stylized it a bit.

New portrait commission. Dr.Scolaro

It was a tremendous honor to be commissioned by the hospital to paint that portrait of Dr.Scolaro. I never met him in real life and painted that portrait using several photos of him sent to me by the hospital.

Yesterday I met with Brenda Baker- Brandon Hospital representative at the frame store to reveal the finished portrait and select a frame. She had tears in her eyes- she knew Dr.Scolaro for 10 years and she said that she had an unreal feeling that the doctor looked back at her from the portrait. I was touched deeply by that. And of course it is the best compliment to me that in my portrait I succeeded to reflect his soul.

Dr.Scolaro was President of both Brandon Chamber of Commerce and the Missing Children’s Help Center and a founding member of Brandon Hospital. In August of 2020, he passed away due to complications from Covid-19. That portrait of him will be the first portrait in the hall of fame of that hospital.

Eyes of new portrait-commission. Under-painting step

When painting a portrait after sketching it I always start working on eyes. There are many ways you can start developing a portrait. Why I choose eyes? May be because they connect me to a soul of the person I paint? Beginning of my new painting- commission. Under-painting step.
